Webb6 jan. 2024 · Got to workshop, had a look under the bonnet to see if anything obvious. Dropped bottom tray off and low and behold turbo pipe had blown off intercooler. Refitted pipe, took down the road and bang off it came again. Checked for codes with VCDS and 17964 came up. Often the clips that hold the hoses in place are not strong enough to withstand this pressure. If the hoses pop off you will know immediately as it will affect performance considerably.

Wouldn't you know it - I drop $30 on a switch, and now the motor is acting up. One brush is sparking and arcing like crazy, and smelling burnt. The commutator is burned about ½ way around. Just fiddling some more with the cable seems to have fixed it. There is nothing wrong with replacing the low pressure hose on the return line with a line with crimped on fittings. Or another good idea is to use those reusable fittings and regular hydraulic pressure hose.
